BTC Liquidity State Machine | Nov 5, 2026: Short Squeeze, No Confirmed Flow Reversal

· Global liquidity

S3 remains tentative (43%) after a large short squeeze interrupted negative liquidation feedback. BTC ETF flow is still negative on the latest completed session and stablecoin supply is shrinking. Wait for genuine flow stabilization and healthy positioning before confirming S1.

The retained main state is S3 DELEVERAGING at low confidence (43%), led by FLOW and POSITIONING, with an urgent review for transition to S1. The prior negative liquidation cascade has been interrupted by a significant short squeeze. However, confirmed BTC ETF redemptions continue and aggregate stablecoin supply is shrinking. Under the strict recovery rule, an improvement in derivatives alone cannot confirm an S3-to-S1 transfer while genuine cash flow remains negative. The continued S3 label is explicitly tentative and must not be read as evidence of an ongoing long-liquidation cascade.

Q = TIGHTENING: reserve balances continue to decline on the latest available October 28 weekly figures while the Treasury cash account rises. P = NEUTRAL: nominal and real Treasury yields declined on November 4, but the latest overnight funding spread remains positive. g = TIGHTENING: the last completed Bitcoin ETF session still recorded redemptions; November 4 ETF totals are incomplete and a displayed zero is not the final net flow. F = NEUTRAL but fragile: Bitcoin rebounded amid liquidations predominantly affecting shorts, while open interest fell. This is consistent with forced short covering rather than verified fresh spot demand.

Expected vs Actual: falling real liquidity and negative ETF flows would normally constrain price; the rebound amid short liquidations is a single-window positive model residual, largely explained by positioning. Feedback Gain is STABLE, not STRENGTHENING. Policy Reaction Function is APPROACHING due to reserves and repo pressure, not AT-THRESHOLD. A structural residual requires two aligned windows. For S3->S1, the negative leverage feedback must remain stopped and g must stop worsening. For S2, sustained positive real flows and supportive Q or P remain essential. Investment implication: reduce leverage, limit exposures to tactical opportunities and wait for cross-layer confirmation.
